Each Wednesday afternoon the fencing teams take on another univeristy in the overall hope of winning their leaugue, and basking in this glory. The team events are run as a relay, rotating players until a score of 45 is reached by either team. This is repaeated for all 3 weapons (foil epee and sabre) and the eventual winner is the team that has either reached 135 points, or has more than another. In previous years the teams have done very well, the mens team winning their league for the past 2 years, but narrowly missing out on premiership promotion each time. Hopefully the 2008/9 season will see them move on up to a more challenging field. The women's team are also very succesfull, coming 2nd last year, but winning the Christie Cup title, and hope to remain a strong team this year. For the first time we have a men's second team, and hopefully a large amount of home grown (ie trained up from beginners by us) fencers will make up this team! We always welcome supporters, so if you're free on a Wednesday afternoon pop down to sports hall 3 to see the guys and gals in action! Running the teams are the following people, and queries about trials should be directed to them! Men's 1st Team: David Musgrave Women's Team: Rachael Anderson Men's 2nd Team: Jointly Captained by: Riyad Cajee
