Club Captain - Izzy Case-Punter
Written by Izzy Case-Punter

Hello, I’m Izzy and this year I have the dubious honour of being the Club Captain. I have to make sure the Club is running properly and has everything it needs. This means a lot of time talking to the Union and trying to decide which shiny things to buy with the Club money! You can ask me anything about the Club generally and I should know what’s happening or be able to direct you to whoever does.

My home club was in Bristol where I fenced foil for several years before coming to Leeds. I now also fence at an epee club near Bristol in the holidays and am gradually learning to take it seriously as a second weapon. At first it was just for the team, then for competitions and now I’m finally doing some training!

My degree is International History and Politics which doesn’t take up much time, though apparently requires extensive reading. As this is my third year I plan to spend much of it working and having early nights… It is however far more likely I will spend it going out and procrastinating in new and exciting ways!

I can be contacted on facebook or by e-mail hy07imcp at leeds dot ac dot uk and I will be happy to answer any queries.

Social Secretary/Webmaster - Alex Lincoln
Written by Administrator

I'm both the social secretary and webmaster this year. So I'm apparently in charge of making sure that everyone has fun when they aren't fencing. I'm also the person to shout at if there are problems with the website or emails.

Beyond that, I've been fencing for about seven years, mostly doing foil, although sabre is becoming an ever more common side entertainment for me. I've been known to turn my hand to épée occasionally as well, although it's not my favoured choice of weapon. My home club was Chilwell Blades in Nottingham, although I haven't been back for a few years now.

Outside of fencing, I'm a PhD student (a full-time research student) in the School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering, following completeing my BSc in Nanotechnology at Leeds, so I'm fairly familiar with the city by now. I also do quite a bit of mountain biking and occasionally visit the university climbing wall.

You can contact me by email at sms4al at leeds dot ac dot uk, on facebook or even by stopping by my office in uni during the daytime.

Women's Team Captain - Rachael Anderson
Written by Rachael Anderson
I’m the women's team captain for this year. I select the team and organise our home and away matches. So if you want to try out for our fantastic women's team, come and talk to me!

I’ve been fencing for around 5 years now and my home club is in Bristol where I fence during the holidays. Foil is my weapon of choice although when needed I have dabbled in a bit of sabre. I enjoy individual competitions at the weekends, especially when it turns in to a club road trip. I’ll also be leading the beginners’ foil sessions next year, with goals and targets for you to achieve throughout the year, and a lot of fun too!

I’m a third year medic and so spend a lot of time in uni. Some of my ‘skills’ have proven useful in fencing medical emergency situations (though I have a track record of being the one that gets hurt!).  I spend most of my spare time just hanging out with friends and sitting in the pub.

You can get hold of me on um07ra at leeds dot ac dot uk or on facebook
