Hi everybody,

Hope you've all had a good holiday and are looking forward to the forthcoming year. Welcome to all new and returning members we hope you enjoy your year at the club.

Returning members will notice several changes to our previous training sessions. The session which was previously held on a Wednesday evening at Cromer Terrace gym will now take place in Sports Hall 1B on a Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 10:00pm. This will give us a lot more space and allow us to expand as a club. Please note that the advanced training session will continue to be held at the newly refurbished Cromer Terrace gym on a Saturday morning.

BUSA matches will commence in the first few weeks of October with both the men's and women's teams competing early on. If you wish to be considered for team selection please ensure that you train regularly so that James and Hayley (This year's team captains) can make informed choices for team selection.

I am pleased to announce that we have found a new coach to coach the advanced fencers on a Saturday mornings. Robert Kiss will be running coaching sessions over the course of the year in all three weapons. He is a valuable resource for the club and we are very pleased that he is able to join us.

Last but by no means least - a date for your diary; our long awaited first social of the year has been scheduled for Tuesday 9th October and will be held in Pulse in the University Union. This is not just a party. The hangover will be more than worth it!

Training commences on Saturday 22nd for advanced fencers in Cromer Terrace gym and the first beginners session will be the following Tuesday (25th) in Sports Hall 1B. Please come along and join us for a drink in the terrace bar after training sessions.

Regards,

Laura Mingins
