Those who started as beginners in September are now welcome to come
along to the Saturday training session. Fencing new people is a great
way to improve and we hope to see as many people as possible at
Saturday sessions. However please be aware that we fence almost
exclusively electric in this training session and so full electric kit
including Breeches must be worn at all times, this kit can be booked
out at Tuesday training sessions by a committee member. Fencers are
responsible for ensuring that they have the correct kit for this
session. These sessions move around between the sports centre and
Cromer terrace and please be aware that we do not transport all the
kit between these two venues. No protective clothing is available at
Cromer terrace.
Could all kit which has been borrowed from the club please be returned
by the end of April. You will be charged for any kit which has not
been returned by the 1st May. If kit has been broken please notify
Liam and Rob (armourers).
Now on to the fun stuff! The second University of Leeds Fencing
Tournament is to be held on Sunday 27th April. It starts at 9:00am in
the main sports hall and promises to be a fantastic day. Entry forms
can be downloaded from the website here, or
collected from Tom Exeter, or found by following the link on the
facebook page. For further details and any questions please check out
the Facebook page at:
All fencers
of all abilities are welcome and we hope to see as many of you
competing as possible. This tournament is open to guests from other
clubs so invite all your friends. It should be a great day!
The next date for your diary is Sunday 20th April, when the club will
be holding a Robin Hood Themed Otley Run, a chance to dress up and get
rather drunk! Otley Runs are always a good laugh and we're looking
forward to seeing lots of you there. More details can be found
here
The next social after that is on Wednesday 30th April, the day of our
end of year celebration and a chance to let your hair down before the
exams kick in. This not to be missed event will be held at Trio in
Headingly at 7:00. This should be a fantastic evening. We've got a
room to ourselves for the meal and will be having an awards
presentation. We're looking forward to seeing the whole club down
there! Please feel free to bring friends, this should be a fantastic
social. More details to be found here
Looking forward to seeing you all at training on Tuesday.
